What’s In A Date?

Generally when I think of the wedding season, I think of Spring or June weddings.

I got married in August – 25 years ago, and picking a date back then had more to do with our ministers calendar and when our reception venue was available.

Since January 1, 2001, brides and grooms have had the opportunity to pick dates that either have meaning, or are easily remembered.  Ever wonder how many couples got married on July 7, 2007 – so that they had the lucky number 07/07/07 as their wedding date?    My unofficial research shows that three times the usual number of Saturday July weddings occurred on the lucky date of 7/7/07.    Desperate housewife, Eva Longoria, and basketball star, Tony Parker, are probably the best-known couple to get married on July 7, 2007.

Many couples have choosen dates like  June 7, 2008 in order to easily remember the date of 06/07/08.   This year the wedding date 10/10/10 is proving very popular, as was 08/09/10.

Newly engaged couples are already looking forward to a wedding date of 09/10/11.  But this trend won’t last forever – after the year 2014 (12/13/14) the ability to choose a fun, easily remembered, wedding date won’t occur again until …

If you’re getting married this year on October 10th, then you’ll enjoy this fun fact:  In binary, 101010 adds up to 42, the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

And, for all you 10/10/10 couples, there is still plenty of time to order caricatures as gifts for your wedding party from www.giveacaricature.com and those shares of Disney Stock from www.giveashare.com which make a great gift for the ring bearer and flower girl!

I’m an 11/11/11 bride!!! At first we weren’t sure we wanted to get married on Veteran’s Day, and on a Friday night, but after thinking it over we decided that it is our day and chose the date we wanted. We will just send out our Save the Dates earlier and hope that our family and friends will still make it! I have noticed that 11/11/11 is a very popular wedding date so if you are thinking of choosing it, you better get a head start on planning!
